If you’re idea of comfort is grandma’s old rocking chair, of that plush pillow that is in a color you’d rather not discuss. Then you’re in the right place! Comfort isn’t usually about style; it is more about what makes you feel like curling up with a book at the end of a long busy day. However, if you’ve decided that your space can be comfortable and stylish, or maybe you know that stylish is what makes you comfortable, then we can help with that too. So, what makes your home comfortable? Let’s find out…
What Makes Your Home Comfortable?
One thing that became clear in the pandemic, is that an individual’s idea of what is comfortable can change when you end up spending more time in your space. Additionally, we discovered that our space ended up needing to be multi-functional. So, what makes your home comfortable? Take a look around in your space, and take a look everything that you love, and some of the things that you’ve loved too much. Do they make you comfortable? If so, then you may be able to simply re-furbish these items to reflect your style. If not, then perhaps they can be replaced with something else that works better for you. Let’s take a look.
Can Something that is Comfortable also be Stylish?
Yes! Something that is comfortable can also be stylish, for sure! Disperse heirloom furniture throughout the home, then stick with a neutral color palette. Then use pops of color all throughout your space. These pops of color can be used in your décor, with tasteful throw blankets, and plush pillows, as well as curtains and rugs. There are other things that help too.
Comfort Tip #1: Design Your Home Around Your Routine
Each room, while designed with the appropriate color palette and pops of color, should also create more functions in an area and maximize your available space. So, spend some time writing down your daily routine, and decide what you are doing in each room throughout the day. Once you have this figured out, you can decide how your design can better reflect what you are doing in that space. For example, if you’ve set up an office area in your living room, perhaps you need a more functional space to do your work, with the appropriate lighting.
Comfort Tip #2: Glam up Your Space with a Traditional Flair
Remember that fun throw in the color you’d rather not talk about? Reuse it! It can be recovered with a traditional Desi style that reflects some of the pops of color you have throughout your home, making it both comfortable and stylish. Since you are likely to have some traditional heirlooms interspersed in your space, these little pops of comfort and color will make your space stylish, comfortable, and more functional. Comfort Tip #3: Move Your Furniture Away from the Walls
Have you always wanted a reading nook in the corner of your living room – but don’t have the space?
